6 months!

Oh My, Mia is halfway to a year! It's so bittersweet!  I'm so thankful that she is growing and learning and we've all survived 6 months (ha), but im so sad she's not a little newborn anymore!

Mia:
-16lbs 11oz (75%)
-26 3/4in (90%)

- she is sitting up pretty well and she wants to sit up constantly (in the bathtub, in your lap, on the floor).  If you try to lay her down she puts her elbows down and keeps her head up to avoid laying down.  She's going to have some awesome abs ;-)
-she screams for fun constantly!!
-she grabs anything near her and the girl has a grip!  You better watch your food and drinks because she'll have them in her hands in no time.  She destroyed the paper on the exam table at her appointment.
-she is sleeping in her crib in her room!!!!!! Yay!!  And is sleeping so much better!!!! She sleeps 10-12 hours at night.  Not always consistently, but so much better!
-she is getting a little better with her separation anxiety.  She doesn't completely lose it when I drop her off now.
-she started Mother's Day out and did ok the first day.  Hopefully this helps with the separation anxiety.
-she says dada and hey
-wears size 3 diapers
-wears 6-9 month and 9 month clothes
- nurses every 2 1/2 hours
-eats solids twice a day
- she went on her first plane ride and did great!!
- she is obsessed with her paci-  if it is near her, it is going in her mouth!  She will put it back in her mouth at night if she can find it.  I'm pretty sure her crib eats pacis - they seem to disappear at night.
- she responds to her name
-she can sit in a restaurant high chair
-she met her first famous person-uncle Si from duck dynasty.  He came over to talk to her and of course she lost it.
- she loves other kids.  When Molly is here, Mia thinks she's such a big girl getting to play with her.

I seriously love this girl more every day!

5 Months

Mia is 5 months old!!!

Mia:
-wears size 3 diapers
-wears 6 month and 6-9 month clothing
-she loves food!!  We went ahead and started her on the real foods because the rice cereal was not agreeing with her.  She would throw up a lot after eating it so the doctor told us to just go ahead and start the real foods.
-she can sit up for a little bit before falling over.
-she squeals in her highest pitched voice when she gets excited
- she loves mirrors! The baby who is always on the other side must be pretty cute and fun;-)
-she went on her first vacation (to the beach) and did great!  She did much better than I expected traveling because it was a very long drive!  She slept the whole night every night at the beach! She didn't mind the sand but hated the water.  I think the sound of the waves crashing scared her-that and the fact that the ocean is huge!
-we went to a dolphin show while we were down there and she loved it!  She kept smiling and squealing.
-she is a TERRIBLE sleeper right now (the beach fooled us).  She wakes up 6-8 times every night.  We are exhausted!
-She is very good at grabbing toys and hair and earrings :-/
-She can put her pacifier in her mouth and take it out
- she's still on Zantac
-she loves her walker and bouncer!
-nurses every 2 1/2 hours-we're finally going longer!!!!
-she still sleeps in the pack and play in our room (mainly because I don't want to walk across the house 100 times a night to put the paci back in :-)

4 Months

Mia is 4 months old!!!

Mia:
Weighs 13lbs 12oz (50%)
Is 25 1/2 inches long (90%)
Head is 42cm (75%) - explains the difficulty getting shirts over her head :-)
Is wearing 6 month clothes
Size 0 shoes
Rolling over- she first rolled from back to front and then rolled from front to back at the doctor.
On the move- I lay her on Her playmat and she turns almost upside down every time.
We have had to start strapping her in everything because she tries to roll out.
Sleeping in the pack and play in our room.  It has not been pleasant trying to get her out of the nap nanny!
Wake up 1-3 times at night :-(
Still nurse every 2 hours during the day
Started rice cereal and she loves it!  I don't think she's going to turn down much food- she gets it honestly :-)
Started loving her swing!
She loves her daddy now!  Thank goodness, I get a break!  However, she still hates everybody else! This has been a bit of a challenge, I didn't think this started so early!  I made it about 5 minutes in Sunday school last Sunday before they text me to come down.  Poor girl, I really hope she outgrows this soon!
She grabs everything!!!!! All her toys- she somehow rips them off her carseat, and her clothes, and my hair!  I can't even tell you how much of my hair she has ripped out.  Between her and my hair falling out from pregnancy, I'll be bald in no time!
She has started grabbing my food and plate anytime I eat.  She had a handful of my sandwich the other day before I noticed.  I guess she's ready to start real food :-)
She has started laughing and its so funny!
She loves Molly!  She will laugh and laugh at her.  It's so cute!
She will talk and talk and spit and make all kinds of funny sounds
She will imitate us when we make noises and its really funny.
She has a really high pitched squeal that she loves!  I mean it is loud!!
She has started sucking her thumb a lot more-I guess she's going to be a thumb sucker. She has out herself to sleep in the car twice by sucking her thumb.  It's glorious right now and oh so cute, but I know it's extremely hard to break them of this habit later.  I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.  Don't mind my 5 year old sucking her thumb ;-)
Still taking Zantac, she is up to 2ml now
Loves sitting in her high chair!
Still really loves bath time.  She has figured out that she can splash and it is a mess!
Still using head and shoulders to bathe her for cradle cap
She likes the pool as long as its warm and the sun is going down.
She still hates tummy time and she has figured it out.  She either immediately lays on her side and plays with the toys or rolls over on her back.  She's too smart for her own good!  I think tummy time is now a lost cause since she's on the move!

My sister and her family lived with us for 3 weeks in between houses.  It was crazy around here, but so fun.  Mia had a blast.  She loves her cousins!

My brother got married June 22nd and me and Todd were both in the wedding.  It was a gorgeous wedding and I couldn't be happier for my brother!  I have prayed that he would find the person God would have him to spend his life with and he exceeded my expectations!  We love Jessica!  She is the sweetest person and has taken us all on including our kids and loved them! This is the happiest I have ever seen my brother and that is all I want for him!   I'm so happy for the both of them and wish them so much happiness!

Chew on everything
Love to put her fist in her mouth

Mia's baby dedication was June 9th and it was such a special day!  We were honored to dedicate her to The Lord and promise to be parents who bring her up to know her precious savior!  We had all of our family over for lunch afterwards and it was so fun!

2 Months Old!

I guess I should do her 2 month post since she's now 3 months.  Story of my life :-).
Mia is a growing girl!
Weight:  11.3 lbs (50%)
Height:  24inches (96%)
Looks like she's going to be tall like her daddy!
She is talking and smiling a lot!  She can roll from her back to her side and does it quite a bit.  She's sleeping from 7-10 hours at night and goes down around 9:30-10.  It's amazing!  However, she doesn't sleep much during the day. She takes 5-10 minute naps here and there, but I'll take it if she sleeps at night.  She is in size 1diapers and 0-3 month and 3 month clothes.  We had to go to the doctor at 6 weeks because she hd a horrible rash on her face.  Turns out it was cradle cap with a bacteria infection on top of it, poor girl. So now we have to wash her whole body with head & shoulders every other day.   She was 10lbs at that appointment.

I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day and it was amazing!  I'm so blessed to be able to be a mother!  Mia got me a card with her handprints and footprints in it.  The cutest part was that her little hands were smeared and she has about 8 toes on one footprint because she wouldn't be still!  I love that part because it shows her little personality :-). Todd got me a card and flowers.  He also got his dad to come over and watch Mia that morning so I could go to church - so sweet of him!

Mia had her first set of shots :-(. Poor little girl!  Thank goodness they did it quick and she calmed down quickly!  She was really fussy for the rest of the day and ran a little bit of fever that night-just made for mommy cuddling time :-). I had no clue when I became a mother how much more you hurt for your child when they hurt- its overwhelming! Then we got to get out and about.  We have pretty much been going non stop since!

I fall more in love with this girl every day and love watching her grow and learn new things!

1 Month Old

OMG, Mia is already a month old, how can it be?
She weighed 9lbs 3oz and was 21inches at her 1 month check up.

Mia is growing and changing so much! This has been an exhausting, but amazing month! She had her days and nights mixed up for a few days after we brought her home, but she figured it out. I started noticing that she was spitting up after her feedings and very upset, so I thought she had reflux. The doctor confirmed that she did have reflux and also colic (noooooooo). So we started Zantac and it has helped with the reflux tremendously! As far as the colic, we have learned to wait and give her a bath late and then swaddle her and feed her and she usually goes right to sleep. She is usually really fussy in the evening, but at least we know that there is nothing wrong with her! Her doctor told us that it was perfectly fine if we just put her in her car seat sit her in a room, and we walk outside and scream :-). I feel like we are finally getting the hang of each other. I'm loving staying at home with her and getting to see her grow!

Mia LOVES her bath!!! It's the only way we can calm her down other than holding her straight up and letting her kick off my belly (I know it's weird, but it works). She instantly stops crying the second we lay her on the sponge. She looks in the mirror and talks and occasionally knocks over all her bath stuff :-). She also loves to lay on her playmat and kick and kick and kick. She has started smiling and "talking" back to me, I just love it! She can roll over to her side.

She is now in 0-3 month clothes as of 3 weeks. I was so sad to pack away her newborn clothes! She's not so little anymore :-(. She has been waking up once during the night to eat and usually goes to sleep around 11:30. During the day, she eats 3 1/2 oz every 2 hours. She's also in size 1 diapers.

Mia had her first play date with her friend, Alice. Mia wanted to play, but Alice just wanted to sleep :-).

Meet our precious little girl!

Mia Elaine Whitlock arrived Monday 3-18-2013 at 4:01p.m. She was 7lbs 10oz and 19 inches long.

Her birth story:
We decided with the doctor that it was best to go ahead and induce Sunday night since she was already 4 days past her due date. So we went in Sunday night at 10. I was actually really calm on the way to the hospital, Todd-not so much :-). I seriously thought he might throw up or pass out on the way there. We got checked in and went up to our room. There were 3 nurses waiting on us to get things started. I was actually having contractions every 2-3 minutes when i got there. I had no clue, so they had to call my doctor to make sure he still wanted to start the induction- he did since i wasn't feeling the contractions. It all went so quickly-everything was done and lights were out by 10:45. They gave me a pill to get things started at around 11. I didn't get much sleep because every time I turned on my side, they couldn't pick up the baby's heartbeat. Therefore, I had to lay on my back pretty much the entire night! I got the second pill around 3 and started to feel some contractions. They weren't terrible, but definitely enough to keep me from sleeping. Also, I couldn't go to the bathroom for 2 hours after each pill, I thought my bladder might burst each time :-/. They started the pitocin at 7 a.m. I pretty much immediately started feeling stronger contractions! They bumped up the pitocin every 30 minutes (I dreaded those times)! At about 9:30 a.m. (Pitocin was up to 30 at this point), I decided to go ahead and get the epidural (best decision ever)! I was trying to wait until my doctor broke my water, but he took too long :-) I told the guy doing my epidural that I would buy him a car, just give me the drugs :-). I jumped a little on the numbing shot, but didn't feel the epidural at all! Then, all was well! Seriously, I have no clue how anybody would make it through labor with pitocin without an epidural. I told Todd that I think I would have passed out! I was sweating from the pain! Then we just hung out for a little while eating my ice chips! At 1 the doctor came in and broke my water- I was 5cm. At 1:50, my nurse checked me and I was at 8cm. I was so shocked that I was already at 8. The rest is a little bit of a blur. When I got to 9cm, Mia was sitting on a nerve on my right side blocking the epidural :-(. So from 9cm to when I started pushing, I felt every contraction on my right side. It was painful!!!!!! They came in and gave me a bolus of the epidural, but it didn't help. They said they could give me morphine or Demerol, but I was too close to pushing. So I just held the bed rails and suffered through it. Thank goodness it didn't last long! They started getting things set up and at 3:30, I started pushing. Feeling the contractions definitely helped me push. I think pushing was the part I was most scared about. I just kept thinking, what if I can't push her out. I had already made it to the end, and to not be able to push her out would have been devastating! Also, I was scared I wasn't going to know how to push. Well, I had no problem with the pushing. It was hard though, it takes all your muscles and all your energy! I was definitely thinking I was going to bust a blood vessel, in my face! Todd stood up by my head and just told me i was doing a great job (he was also crying when i was pushing, so sweet). They told me she had hair when they could see her head! Also, i had 2 students in with me the whole day, it was their first day in labor and delivery. They were crying when she was born, so sweet. I couldn't wait to see her! At 4:01, our sweet little girl made her arrival. I can't put into words how I felt. All I kept saying was oh my gosh. It was very overwhelming! She was gorgeous and she was mine :-). I couldn't wait to hold her, I didn't care what got on me! She was grey when she was born so they let me hold her for about a minute, then they took her to suction her out and make sure she was ok. They had a hard time getting her to cry, she was just bright eyed and looking around. Later when she got her bath, she let them know that she could cry though :-). I don't remember a whole lot about the evening, it was all so overwhelming. She was gorgeous and I loved her more than I can explain!
